Hi 1C1, Ms Lim here. Here are the personification poems from all of you. Do take the time to read through the poems k. Comment on the instances of personification that struck you. How do you feel towards your classmates' poems? Do the poems change your impression of the objects that they are personifying?
The Singapore Flag
The flag flutters in the wind,
Flying up high as the people sing.
The moon and the stars shine by night,
Look at the flag! Standing upright.
Red and White its colours bright,
My oh my, what a sight!
Looking down on Singapore,
It greets the school children and much more;
"Hello! Helllo!" It calls out to you,
Sometimes it even sings too!
Watch
Shaking hands every 12 hours,
I'm just a watch, just like every other.
My hands move but never get sore,
While i serve my master, who's busy with chores.
Grasping to this yound lad, by two blue straps,
I'll neither drop nor stop,
for these two straps i have for support.
A measly watch, or so you say
But i ensure you i'm not that gay.
You'll never be late with me on your wrist,
I'll help you get on time at the very least.
Flowers
The flowers wept,
As the wind swept,
Away their teardrops dry.
The petals sway,
On a clear blue day,
Clear without a lie.
They arrange themselves
Along the sill,
Waiting fro their daily meal.
Though they may only be plants,
Yet they care about,
How others feel.
Pebble
The pebble as tall as a tree
As round as me.
A pebble lies in the storm all night
Crying in the dark, looking for some light.
A pebble that sits in the rain all day
Waiting for a day that someone takes him home to stay
The pebble shores in the moonlight
And smiles in the sunlight.
Candle
The candle drooled as soon as it was lit.
Although it leads the way,
The candle destroys and kills.
Even though it ages with the cake,
It prays to the dead,
And offered prayers to the gods.
It eventually died,
When the wax melted away.
